taken Dam Square, Amsterdam. supposed to be chinese avant-garde art of some sort. damn pretty scary looking if you ask me.

i wonder which "xianfeng" characters they are:

1. 先锋? (which, according to the dictionary, exists. something like front line army troops or something.)

2. 先疯? (first to go crazy)

3. 仙疯? (immortal crazy or maybe crazy about immortal/s?)

or possibly even
4. 鲜疯? (freshly crazy?)

Option 1 makes most semantic sense, but maybe this is a pun on the word 锋, which leaves us with option 2.

there is much fun to be had when you are given only the pinyin. =)

Jazz at Southbridge

its tough shooting at Southbridge because of the way the place is lit. the place is rather dim (like most pubs/bars are), but the musicians use a reading light attached to their music stands (as can be seen in the above photo).

This means that sometimes, what you get are shots of over-exposed faces. white-out if you like, whilst the environment may be too dark and blend. Exposure is definitely a tricky business here. As you can see, the area where the singer is is substantially darker than where the bass player is. This, also caused by lights from outside the window behind him. i did some burning, (no cropping though,) but am still not quite satisfied with the photo.

This one here below of the drums taken because the drummer seemed more nervous when he thought i was taking pictures of him.

fucking flyers

went to Sim Lim earlier. i really hate that place. what i hate most are the people who stand at the end of the escalators, pushing flyers towards you. and because most of them are just stretching their arms straight out so you can't really avoid taking the flyers, they are actually pushing them into your chest area. Inevitably, someone is going to touch something that s/he shouldn't.

can i get them arrested for molest already?!

just how many dreams can you have in 8 hours' worth of (non-)sleep?

Answer : 4

thing is i woke up each time, and i actually remember all of them. and i woke from these dreams reacting like i would react in the dream. really weird stuff. in the 2nd dream, a 2 or 3 year old kid was burning me with a cigarette, and then when i've had enough, i decided, 2 or 3 year old or not, i have to stop him hurting me. and i fended myself by flailing my arms in front of me. funny when i woke my right arm was doing just that.

the last dream involved being on a beach with these really huge waves. we were all being swept back by the waves into this deep, wide trench thing. 'twas fun till i started seeing dead bodies sticking out of the ground...

in other news, i went to the Jazz bar tonight and used both W's and D's lenses that i borrowed last weekend. will post some photos tomorrow if they are decent enough. now off to sleep. hopefully no more weird dreams. i mean, WTF, what are the chances that all 4 of your dreams in one night are weird ones?!
